The Equine Collaborative

Custom equine experiences created with people and purpose in mind.

More About The Equine Collaborative

The Equine Collaborative is a way for ministries, organizations, teams, and groups to partner with Altar Equestrian to create a meaningful experience with horses.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all program, we begin with a conversation. We want to understand who you serve, what you hope to cultivate, and what matters most to your group. We got from there.

Experiences may center around themes such as the practice of presence, connection, communication, trust, emotional awareness, leadership, rest, resilience, rhythm, or spiritual formation.

The goal? Create space for people to have an encounter, an experience — not just talk about it.

Why horses?

Horses invite us into the present moment. They respond to subtle changes in our posture, attention, and emotions — making the formation of relationships with them more deeply embodied. Emerging research on horse-human interaction also suggests that physiological and behavioral attunement can occur between horses and people, giving researchers greater insight into the role of connection and regulation in these interactions. The horse becomes a companion in the process — inviting awareness, honest response, patience, and a different kind of listening.

Who is it ideal for?

This is especially well suited for:

  • Counselors and helping professionals looking to incorporate intentional equine experience into the work they are already doing, in individual or group settings.

  • Churches, ministries, and small groups exploring themes of rest, identity, spiritual formation, connection, or community.

  • Leadership teams and organizations wanting to strengthen communication, trust, presence, and relational leadership.

  • Women’s groups and retreats looking for an experience centered around reflection, connection, and renewal.

  • Schools, educators, and youth-serving organizations seeking experiential opportunities for growth and relationship building.

  • Nonprofits and community organizations wanting to create something meaningful for the people they serve.

What A Collab looks like

An experience may include groundwork, guided observation, relational exercises, individual or group reflection, horsemanship activities, time for quiet and stillness, silence or solitude, facilitated discussion, or opportunities to explore a particular theme through interactions.

Experiences range from a focused session to a longer, retreat-style gathering or a series of encounters designed around a particular idea.

Horse experience is not required. Activities are adapted to the comfort, ability, and goals of the group.

How It Works

  1. Start with a conversation. Text or call Charli at 731-671-5720 to schedule a brief chat about who you are and how we can help.

  2. Schedule time and location. We will work together to set a time and location, along with a basic plan for what to expect next,

  3. Experience it. We will guide you through the equine experience so everyone can be present, engage, reflect, and connect.

Pricing. Because each experience is different, pricing is according to size, length, location, design of the experience.

Our role

Altar Equestrian offers experiential, educational, and relational equine interactions. We do not provide psychotherapy through this service. We are happy to collaborate with licensed counselors or other helping professionals who would like to incorporate this into the work they are already providing, while they remain within the scope of their own role and practice.
